It was a great game by our Tidalwaves and a fantastic way to end the first half of the season.  I'm very proud of all of our tidalwaves and wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Please check the website at 7.00 am for field closures and cancellations.

Game tomorrow!

We play tomorrow morning at Ed Fisher field against Juan De Fuca.  Game time is at 10:30am.  Please be at the field at 10am.

Ed Fisher is behind the Fire Station which is right on Sooke rd. at Happy Valley rd.  Basically turn right at happy valley and then make either the first or second left and you'll see the park:)

As of Monday night, the fields are open for practice.  Chances are good that we may get out on the fields tomorrow night.  Please plan for it and check the field status at 5pm tomorrow.

Sorry my little Tidalwaves but the fields got a wee-bit wet over the past week and are closed.  There will be no game for us this weekend:(

Hopefully get to kick a ball on Tuesday!

BRRRRR!

Hey guys!  Hopefully we all survived the cold weather.  It was -8 when I left for work this morning :-0

As we don't yet have a gym and the fields are frozen tundra there will be no practice tonight.  Instead, please make sure the kids find a soccer ball and dribble up and down the hallways, through the living room and get a good hard shot into the bathroom;)  (ok, for the kids reading this...I'M KIDDING;)

Assuming the fields open this weekend which will be doubtfull (but possible), we are scheduled to have a home game against Prospect Lake.  Game time will be 9am but please keep an eye on the field status as well as this site and watch for updates.

If you have any cool pictures of you playing in the snow, send them and i'll post them up:)

TIDALWAVE!!!!!!

I'm hoping to have a practice tonight but the fields are currently closed due to yesterdays weather.  They usually update the status at 5pm so if they open the fields at that point we'll be on the field.

We have a BYE this week so no game.  Moving forward, I think we'll look into getting some gym time so if the fields close, we can head to the gym instead for practices.

Game tomorrow...last minute notice!?!

Hey guys...just heard from the Peninsula team.  Game is at 10am tomorrow.  It's by the airport and parking is going to be sparse to leave a bit early if you can.  Try to be there for 9:30 so we can wake up and play 2 full halves:)  Map and directions are below.  If it storms out tonight and pours down hard all night the fields may close and I'll send an email and update the site.  Otherwise, see you all tomorrow morning:)

It's far too miserable outside for anything productive to happen on the field;)

One in a row!!!

First of all, great game on Saturday!!!  You guys played great and are showing some serious improvement.  We had so many passes out there I couldn't keep track anymore!  I can see that you're starting to understand the need to spread out and use the space instead of all bunching up and that is awesome!!!

For practices, tonight and from here-on in, please check the field status before you head to the field.  They seem to update it about 5pm for that day.  Hopefully they open up today and we get to work on some defending skills:)

Todays game

Beckwith park is off of high Quadra.
If you travel into Victoria from Sooke, turn left on Mckenzie Ave
Stay on Mckenzie until you can turn onto the Pat Bay Highway heading away from Victoria (towards the ferries)
Take the Quadra st turn off and veer to the right on Quadra.
Turn left on Beckwith which will be only a couple of blocks up Quadra
Travel a couple blocks down Beckwith and you'll see the fields on your right.  Parking is always tight there so you may have to park on the road.

Game this weekend

We play this weekend, October 30th at 11am at Beckwith park.  I'll post a map/directions later but Beckwith intersects with Quadra near the pat bay hwy.

Good news is we get a sleep in!

Fields were closed all day Monday due to standing water on them.  Hopefully they re-open today.  Please check field status before you head to the fields.

This week in Soccer

Hey team!  2 games for us this weekend in the Lower Island Soccer Fall Festival!

Game 1 is at 11am vs. JDF (a different team from the team we played on the weekend)
Game 2 as at 1pm vs. Gorge
For both games, please be there 1/2 hour early so we can get organized and warmed up.  Both games are at our home field:)
See you all at practice tonight!  We'll be scrimmaging for the whole practice and working on our team shape and positioning!

***update***

Tough game girls.  We're playing teams that have been playing 6 aside soccer for 2 years now.  So they've been working on spreading out and passing for a lot longer than us.  We will be just as good, if not better for the 2nd half of the season:)  We just need to keep working hard at practice and trying to learn about the game as much as we can.  We can chalk that game up to experience;)  Enjoy the pics!

Hey Team!

Our game this weekend is a home game against Juan de Fuca.  We should be a 9am start but I will confirm that as soon as the weekend field schedule is done.  The link for the season schedule is here and I'll post it out on this site but sorry, just haven't had time yet.

directions to game

We have a late kick off on Saturday.  Game time is 11:15 and we play at Glanford (see map).  Please be there at the field ready to warm up by 10:45.
Directions:
Follow the transcanada hwy towards Victoria.  Turn left onto Mckenzie.  Turn left on Glanford and make a right about a block up onto Kenneth.  You'll see the playing field on the corner of Glanford and Kenneth and there is parking along Kenneth.
There are washrooms at the field:)

Game this weekend

The schedule was just re-released from Lower Island Soccer!  I'll get it all posted as soon as I get a chance but this weekends game is against Prospect Lake.  Usually they'll play their games at Beckwith park but I'll confirm that with the opposing coach on Wednesday.

Awesome 1st game!

Wow!  Great energy and enthusiasm!  We scored some very good goals and so did the other team.  It's ok to get scored on.  It's going to happen a lot but we just have to make sure we're always learning from each time the other team scores.  Particularly our defenders and midfield.  We'll learn about staying goal-side and not allowing the other teams forwards to get free and shoot.

I promise, we'll get very good at spreading out and using the whole field.  There's a lot of room out there so once we learn to use all the space we'll see more posession of the ball and be able to move it forward easier.

That being said, I thought it was a very good first game.  There was some excellent passing and overall I think we really out-hustled the Lakehill side so great job!

I appreciate your patience as I'm trying to learn all of the players and parents names.  It may take me a few weeks but i'll figure you all out eventually:)

First Game!

Our first game of this season is this Saturday at 9am at our home field.  Please arrive no later than 8:30am and check the field assignment sheet by the concession to see which field we'll be on.
Make sure you're in full uniform, cleats, shin pads and bring a water bottle.
We play the Lakehill Thunder...ooooh, sounds tough but we can take 'em as long as we try to find space and use the whole field!  (just like practice).

Hello Everyone! Welcome to U9 girls soccer!

This year we'll be using this blog site as a way to supply you with information needed throughout the season. I'll try to keep it up to date with season schedules, practice times, field conditions, etc.

We may from time to time find some interesting articles and post them here as well and possibly even some pictures of the teams smiling faces and superstar plays!
