Hampton Park

Here is a map to Hampton park.  Take the Burnside turn off, go across Tillicum and make a left on Orillia.  Parking will likely be tough so get there early.  Please be there by 9:15 so we can warm our legs up and be ready to play a great game!  Game time is 9:45am:)

Awesome work!

Great job at practice Tuesday night!  Some very good passing and some pretty good tackles out there too! (how's your ankle Sid?)

Keep up the effort my little super stars and we'll be ready for our game this weekend!  Just remember to spreadout when calling for passes and don't run too close to your teammate that has the ball because sometimes you can get in the way of there awesome deke moves;)
Oh, and when shooting, don't shoot right at the goalie, try to aim your shot into the corner!  (especially when you come across a hot goalie like we saw last night;)

Hopefully you are all happy with your numbers, socks, shorts etc and we'll see you on Thursday night!

Team changes ***update***

Hey Tidalwaves fans and players!

Every year the club has to find room for every player that registers.  Sometimes there are not enough players in a certain age bracket to form a team so they are forced to combine age groups to form a team.  It can be tricky because you don't want too many players on a roster otherwise playing time in games is less than half.  You also can't have too few due to illness and schedule conflicts throughout the season where you end up being short on players.

This year we had the u8-9's join in with us to start the training because there were only 4 of them at the time.  That put our numbers at 15 which is too many for this age group as we only play 6 aside games.  The club has managed to put together a u9 girls team which is great for everyone.  Our u10's now have 10 (maybe 11) and the u9's have a full team as well.

Sadly, we'll be parting ways with the u9's and I wish them luck this season...I'm sure it will be a blast for them.

I also wish to thank Lily for her awesome participation with the Tidalwaves as she will be playing in her age group this year with the u9's.  We'll miss you Lily but i'm sure we'll see you on the field and we'll all be cheering for you!
***CORRECTION*** due to a slight paperwork error it seems we got info on the wrong Lily!  As it turns out, We get to keep our Lily afterall!  WOOHOOO!  Just please make sure she gets registered asap;)

To the rest of our amazing u10's, the show must go on and I'll see you out on the field tomorrow night (Tuesday) at 6pm.  I have your uniforms which I'll hand out AFTER our practice;)

No practice tonight

As discussed on Tuesday, there will be no practice on Thursday (tonight).
Kim and I found out that our first game will be on October 1st but we won't know when and where until the Lower Island Soccer Assoc. (LISA) releases the schedule.  At this point, many clubs are still adjusting teams so before LISA does the scheduling, they need to have the final info from each club.

I do, however, have our uniforms and I'll bring those out on Tuesday for you.  New players will get socks and shorts to keep and returning players should already have shorts and socks from last year.  If you do not and need to purchase more, please contact the club or let me know and I'll see how I can help.

Have a great weekend and see you Tuesday!

And we'll try to get our uniforms too!!!

See you all tomorrow night! 6-7, don't be late;)

Great first practice

Good job on the first practice everyone!  Looking good!

We'll see you out at the field tomorrow (Thursday) from 6-7.

For those of you still needing to register, please click on the link on the left side of this blog site and go to Sook Soccer.  Print off the form, fill it out and bring that to the club with your cheque and then you're done:)

Kim and I will make sure you guys have your uniforms soon but in the meantime, please make sure you dress for soccer with cleats (preferrably tied up;) and shin pads.

If there are any photography types within our team please let me know and we can use your expertise to fill this site with some cool action shots of the kids playing 'the beautiful game'.

Gonna be a great season!  I can feel it!!!

Practice tonight

Hey everyone.  Yes, we will be on the field tonight from 6-7.  We'll use the field closest to the main road.  There might be a couple teams on the field so just come out and you'll find us:)

Please make sure you're wearing your cleats, shinpads, soccer shorts and shirt...Basically, if we can look like a 'soccer player' we're halfway there;)  Also bring your water bottles as you'll be working tonight!

Parents, it's ok if you'd like to drop your players off for practice and run your errands, go for a coffee, or nap in your car;)  but I would like to have a chat with you for a few minutes after practice while the kids cooldown to go over a couple things.

A new season is upon us!

Welcome back to all of our returning Tidalwaves! And a big welcome to new players joining us this year:)
Last year was year one for us and we really came a long way with our passing and game shape.  We worked a lot on positioning and passing around to use the whole field and its space.  There was a huge difference from the beginning to the end of the season in how we played...It was amazing!

This year will be no different.  We'll continue to develop the basic skills of the game (passing and receiving) as well as individual ball mastery using some cool dekes and feints to fool the other team:)  As well, we'll really work hard on using our shape so we can pass the ball around and let it do the work.

It should be a lot of fun and I hope you're all looking forward to the big U10 season this year:)

I'd like to welcome Kim Cumming as our team Manager this year.  She'll be doing the game day coordination as well as handling things like uniforms and schedules.  As always though, we'll make sure any pertinant info is posted here for you.
